A Spook-tacular Event

Downtown redefine the traditional trick or treat

Last October, the Fort York Neighbourhood Association (FYNA), the City Place Residents’ Association (CPRA) and the Fort York Historic Site held the neighbourhood’s second Annual Trick or Treat Spook-tacular.

It was an event that had many residential towers and businesses in the area offering treats in their lobbies. The event witnessed children trick or treating not house-to-house but rather lobby-to-lobby. To cap off the evening, a family oriented party was held in the Visitor Centre of Fort York Historic Site. The Visitor Centre was decorated in cobwebs amongst other Halloween décor. Families were greeted by glowing jack-o-lanterns as they walked towards the venue. Children were able to enter colouring contests, guess how many candies were in a jar, listen to stories and play together. Kids also had the opportunity to dress up as a soldier, with costumes provided by Fort York. There was coffee for the adults while cookies were doled out for children. Treats and prizes were provided by area businesses and condo corporations. The lucky winners received a birthday party worth $300, tickets to Ripley’s Aquarium and more.

The 3rd annual event will be held in October 2015.
