CityPlace celebrates Canada 150 in an all-day party

By  |

CityPlace is turning red and white on Saturday, July 1st, in celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday.

A huge tent is sitting patiently in the Concord CityPlace Presentation Centre parking lot, ready to house Saturday’s event.

The party kicks off at noon on Saturday, going all day until 11 p.m.

Attendees will step back in time, with the opportunity to see a historical exhibition about CityPlace which includes artifacts.

And remember that schooner found at Fort York last year as construction crews were digging to make space for a condo?

You’ll be able to see a 3D model of it.

Of course, there will be refreshments (popsicles), as well as helium balloons handed out (don’t let them up into the sky, it’s not good for the earth).

Popsicles and balloons don’t compare to the contest being held — you have a chance to win a gold coin worth $1,800.

And this may be the biggest party closer you’ve ever seen: Fireworks are being set off the CN Tower at 10:30 p.m.

What a way to celebrate.
