CityPlace Local Eats – Hunters Landing

Hunters Landing – 82 Fort York Blvd

Located west of the Rogers Centre at Spadina & Bremner, CityPlace has many quick, affordable dining options for locals and visitors to enjoy before heading out to a game or event—or if they’re just too busy to cook.

Hunters Landing offers seating for 380 people, including a private dining space on their second floor, so you’re likely to find a table as soon as you get there. With their huge space and diverse menus, including both a kids’ menu and take-out menu, the Hunters Landing team aims to accommodate everyone. They also offer a local delivery service through their website.

One of their more interesting and outlandish items is “The Cure.” When I asked just what it’s meant to cure, I was told, “It’s great for when you’re looking to cure the party from last night—or when you’re looking to get the party started. It is a Caesar on steroids, the Hulk of all Caesars—a complete meal, if you will.” The Cure itself has 2oz of vodka and Motts Clamato spiced with Worcester sauce, fresh horseradish and Tabasco, then garnished with a 3oz Nova Scotia lobster tail, double house-smoked bacon, house-smoked mozzarella cheese, veggies and a slice of cheese pizza. As they said, it’s a meal and a drink all in one.

For a meal on a plate, try “Chicken a la Plancha,” another menu item that’s made Hunters Landing famous. The chicken is marinated in a special blend of house spices and cooked to tender, yet crisp perfection and their brava potatoes are cooked in a spicy tomato sauce that will give your taste buds a kick. The dish is rounded out with fresh market vegetables and a mountain of arugula in a house citrus-manzanilla vinaigrette. Bonus: This double breast chicken favourite is hormone and antibiotic free. A glass of the Stoney Ridge Pinot Grigio, medium bodied with a hint of citrus, is the perfect accompaniment for this plate.

The Chicken A La Plancha – $22

The Landings Group also runs Williams Landing in Liberty Village.
