Tribe Yoga Jam’s Yoga in the Park

Heather Gardner’s Tribe Yoga Jam has returned Sundays at 10 am in CityPlace’s Canoe Landing Park.

The park is both scenic and spacious as well over a hundred people usually attend the Sunday yoga events and is now steps from the new transit route in CityPlace, which makes attendance more convenient for those outside of the CityPlace neighbourhood at Spadina Avenue and Bremner/Fort York Boulevard.   There is also a city bike sharing location near the event if you prefer to cycle and don’t have access to a bicycle of your own.  There is also an adjacent splash pad where participants can beat the heat before, during or after Yoga Jam.

While the yoga lesson, and event, are free to all, Participants are encouraged to bring their own mat and water/refreshments.  There is no shade; it’s in an open field so sunscreen may help and the event is kid and dog (on leash) friendly.

Tribe Yoga Jam, sponsored by New Balance, kicked off 2016 on July 3 with over 100 yoga enthusiasts, increasing every Sunday, and those trying yoga for the first time.

In addition to yoga, there are events for runners.

July 21 was the start of a ten-week #Learn2Run couch to 10km clinic with Canada Running Series for the Oasis Zoo Run 10km.  It’s a walk/run program, and no previous run experience is required. The ten-week Learn2Run clinic takes place Thursdays at 7 pm. Participants meet by the bobbers, in the splash pad, in Canoe Landing Park.  Wednesdays 7 pm is the 5km community fun run.  Lastly, Saturdays 9 am is the 10km bRUNch run – after the run, there is brunch.  Participants should meet at the Northwest corner of Spadina Avenue and Fort York Boulevard. All paces welcome.
